Like these two girls for example.... missing their 2 front teeth, talking with a lisp, almost always willing to help, and really enjoying the 1st grade. We had their teachers over for a play date last Friday after school. We played with fresh, still warm homemade play dough and had cookies (those were fresh, still warm and homemade too!). Their teachers are these young spunky gals that are friends in real life outside of school. It was fun to get to know them. I wish I would have got some pictures. I know that Addison and Kennedy will never forget that play date! We will have to do it again sometime.
And this little ball of butter. I could go on and on about him. Eight months, 4 teeth, big people food eater. Lucas loves rice. Is that weird to like grains of whole rice at this age? He eats real textured foods now and turns his head to soft mushy stuff. I guess it's because he's got those teeth for a reason. This baby also has attitude. He loves to pull my hair and if I take it away he gets angry and does this grunting protest at me. When he wants me to hold him he crawls up to me and begins banging his head on my leg until I pick him up. Hmmmm.. this little boy is already being a turkey to me, but I love him so.

One afternoon I went into the play room and the kids had made their dad. They had dressed different objects in the playroom with his clothes and made a face on the head and were sitting on his lap. I wondered if they were trying to tell me that they missed him or if they had just stumbled upon the idea. It was funny to see anyhow.
One last picture... This is what it is like at our house every morning. The kids and I gather around the heater and fight for warmth. It reminds me of a pack of animals around the water hole. They are all there for the same thing but someone usually gets hurt. The kids were actually being nice to each other this morning and I am the one taking the picture so usually I am there too, holding the baby (Our house is cold in the mornings by the way).

Our lives can really seem boring and not worthy of notice. We may think that the usual is uneventful. I hope that I can look for the good everyday and make note of the blessings in my life so that I won't miss out.

Good post Sidnee. Just what I needed this morning! One friend of mine's blog title is Celebrate the Ordinary. Both of you are so right...it is our ordinary, everyday life that means a lot! I read a book last year called Encyclopedia of an Everyday Life. It's a great book.
So true. I have not updated my blog in a while because I thought I had nothing interesting to blog about. Maybe I had better check my camera and think more positively as well! Thanks for the inspiration. :)
That was a great post and pick me up! We all need to adjust our focus every now and again. You have great children! I LOVE the picture of the "dad" they made! I laughed hard!
Boring is good. I like boring better than exciting - toilets running over, people getting hurt, cars breaking down in traffic, yucky people at work/school, illness... there are all kinds of "exciting" things that could be happening to your family but instead, it's nice and boring. :)
Love this blog. Thanks for an important reminder:-)
This was a great blog. So what if it meant going to bed by myself. You are such an insipiration to others I'm happy to sacrifice a warm bed. Keep up the good work honey.
Love it!! You are so right on. Sometimes I feel the same. When you look up and see a little beyond the "everyday" situations, your blessings become more apparent. We are so blessed! Thanks for your thoughts. Your are super!! Love!!
Great post sid. Your kids are dolls. In our old house we had vent right in the middle of the floor from when they made and addition to the house. The kids and I would lay under blankets over the vent until we were sweating! I loved it! Maybe you should put a wood stove in your house!!
I love all the pictures, but speacilly the last one. It made me go :)
Awww.
I so needed to read this post today. Thank you the great reminder!!!
Sidnee....I just linked to your blog from Amy's and was so excited to see your cute face on your profile. You look just the same as at Ricks! Your kids are darling...I have a little 'Davis,' too. He is only 8 weeks old. Just wanted to say 'hi' to a long-lost pal!
