Arctic Blast 2008

For those of you reading this who have spent any amount of time east of the cascades, just relax. I know you have seen more and better snow than what you will see here but for us West coasters this is about the most we will ever see. Arctic Blast 2008 (so dubbed by the local news stations) is a week old and only half done. We have seen 8-12 inches of snow in the last seven days and are not out of it yet with more predicted for the coming week and Christmas. Thank you to Canada for that nice batch of arctic air to go along with our normal wet winter. Below is a picture of the girls playing in the preliminary flurries that cancelled school on Wednesday. Notice the bare road behind them and the grass still poking up through the snow.

Addie and her disappearing snowball trick. This is actually what is called a "500 ft. snowball." Get it? 500 ft. above sea level? Come on, that was funny.

This is after the second round of snow that cancelled school on Friday and the church Christmas party on Saturday. It's as if Heavenly Father knew that BYU was kicking off at the same time our party was scheduled to start.

This is what's known as a West Coast sled. You take your average Fisher Price kid picnic table, flip it upside down, tie some twine to one end, hitch it up to dear old dad, and "mush!"

I quickly discovered that if I just stand in the middle of the road and pivot real hard the sled would fly around in a circle pretty fast. Notice the snow kicking up as I whip Jack around.

No worse for wear.

Waiting for their turn on the Daddyhorn.

I got tired quickly and tried hitching the sled up to Addie. That didn't work out too well. I'm not sure what Davis is doing.

Here are some cool pictures from around the house courtesy of the freezing rain.

Because church was cancelled we decided to turn on the Christmas devotional this morning. Sidnee and Lucas went into General Conference mode.
This is Sunday night. Another 1-4" of snow expected again overnight. I can only imagine what the commute will be like tomorrow.

Wow, you are getting a lot. We have about a foot now and are getting snow everyday this week! The freezing rain does not seem fun. But it does make for some great pictures!! I am glad Heavenly Father was looking our for you.

I can't believe you have FIVE kids yet you look exactly the same as you did in college! You go girl! I feel like the pressure is on to pop out kids two at a time being roommates with you, Jen, and Amy! What's up with that? You can catch up with us at vsmcclure.blogspot.com So good to see you!
